Bloody fireworks over the weekend.
OK, Diwali being the Festival of Light, I can understand it to a certain extent. But I'm absolutely certain that it never used to be like this until a few years ago.
I'm sure though, that some people are not celebrating Diwali, but just getting themselves pumped up and ready for Halloween - since when was that celebrated with fireworks as a matter of course?
That'll be followed swiftly by November 5th - another one that I can and do understand the signifcance of having fireworks for.
And then it'll probably be nothing but fireworks in the build-up to Christmas followed swiftly by New Year and then Chinese New Year.
It's just going to be three solid months of once-quiet nights torn asunder by sudden whooshes, whistles and aerial bombardments making our towns and cities sound even more like war-zones.
And here's me trying to get little Penny out from behind the sofa, or at least putting a towel over the electrical extension leads. The poor dog is absolutely terrified by the sound of them, even on the telly.
That is the only reason for me to dislike this time of year.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy fireworks. I just don't like seeing my pets in distress because of them.

theres not really a very good reason for selling high explosives to people.. organised displays only as far as I'm concerned.
bah humbug I know, but I agree with you, I'm sick of it too.
